Apr 30, 2012 - They were trying to go for a Depeche Mode sort of style to the song and other bands they followed as kids because the song is about their childhood, The Knife being similar have also a 1980s style of music for Heartbeats. Wouldn't argue about either one ripping off the other since this sort of musical style has been going since the 80s and writing music it is very easy that different bands come up with similar songs even without hearing each others because of obvious limitations :)
