May 17, 2012 - As the candle melts away the masses at both ends change, making it bob on each end. When one end of the candle melted away more than the other, it caused the heavier end to drop, due to laws of gravity. So while the other end was losing mass, so was the other, so the constant rate of change between the mass at both ends kept getting pulled down by gravity, one after another.

May 15, 2012 - It's definitely the gravity theory. The "heat rises" theory is such idiocy in relation to this. Also @mccastjr The candle probably eventually does a full rotation, but the issue is that they nail isn't perfectly centered, if it was, it'd be easier.
