May 10, 2012 - That's kind of insulting. I mean, we are indeed apes. We have flaws and foibles. However, this video comes close to claiming there is no purpose. That our existence is intrinsically nihilistic. That just isn't true. There is no 'ultimate' purpose, but through the lens of individual perspective, we can have purpose. Being 'alone' because of our self-aware individual perspective works both ways. Because we are individuals, we only need a collection of individual purposes to have meaning.

Though, like the appendix, our tailbone is getting smaller and smaller due to evolution, since there is no survival advantage or function associated with it anymore.
