Mar 20, 2012 - Finding it hard to watch. Dialogue makes no sense at all and very hard to follow or understand what's happening. Subtitle helps at times with few characters and the way they talk, but I'm loosing my patience with some parts of the story because it doesn't seem to make sense it's almost as if the whole story is in code words and you gotta break the code to understand what's happening. The cast is great too I must say but I'm hoping it gets better

Mar 12, 2012 - Who'd have thought? Writer Milch, director Mann, a fine cast, and it's not TV, it's HBO! How could it fail? After last nights (3/11/11), I'm not sure how much more I can take. The program looks at the undertold stories of horseracing and gambling, but loses me with its pacing. Right out of the gate, it's surprisingly slow-(I've fallen asleep often, thanks DVR!) The dialog is fine, the photography top notch, Dennis Farina, an old Mann buddy, is superb. Sadly, this horse needs to be put down.
