May 20, 2012 - Sorry I don't other than the unit will be bolted together with screws and they will be located on the underside of your laptop. There's a lot of videos on YT no relating to Acer screen flicker so check them out and maybe you'll get a better handle on how to deal with it. Good luck.

May 20, 2012 - This is the bane of my life. My screen flickers and disappears. If i move it back and forth it comes on again. Access to the connection cable for my screen is not as easy. Any recommendations for accesing this cable for an Acer aspire 5741.

Apr 26, 2012 - I wouldn't let it put you off Acer entirely. I've just replaced the laptop in the video after nearly four years of use and it took a hammering. Once the flicker was repaired very little else went wrong. I've just replaced it with.... guess... yes thats right, another Acer. The Aspire S3 which is pretty nice. The difference is that I bought it from John Lewis (a shop to all you non-UK people not a chap selling knock off pcs!) so it comes with a 5 year no quibble guarantee. They can't all be bad..

Apr 13, 2012 - Wow. Hi praise indeed! Thank you. I'm glad I could be helpful!

Apr 12, 2012 - My mum has this laptop and it's been broken for about a year. I've never actually attempted to repair a laptop (though I spent a while repairing desktops) for fear of making it worse :P That was until I stumbled upon this gem of a video! I'm need to get the necessary screwdriver to actually repair the thing so it hasn't been done yet but I just wanted to say thanks for a simply explained and incredibly useful video :) If only the gene pool was filled with more like ya!

Apr 6, 2012 - Haha love it! Anyone not having suffered this issue may think you a little dramatic, but it IS such a bane! I threw the laptop consequently destroying my harddrive I go so frustrated! Glad I could be of such help!

BreenBoy Says:

Apr 5, 2012 - Sir, thank you. Thank you so much. This has fixed what was nearly the bane of my existence for 2 years. I am forever in your debt.

Mar 30, 2012 - @babylonmol Sorry no advice. I'm not an IT specialist, just someone who got pee'd off with a screen flicker. I didnt download a repair manual, just took the laptop case off to have poke around and found the culprit. If the mouse cursor is jumping around in time with your key tapping it does suggest a loose connection though...

babylonmol Says:

Mar 29, 2012 - Hi, I'm having the same problem with my Acer. I'm also having problems with the keyboard. The cursor jumps around and as i'm trying to type.. really frustrating. Any advice? Where did you download the repair manual from? I've never attempted anything like this before so any and all advice would be gratefully received.

hurst751 Says:

Mar 25, 2012 - @sangolt88 Don't really know what to say other than it may be the same problem

sangolt88 Says:

Mar 24, 2012 - Having this problem on the 8943G now...

TinyTracey Says:

Mar 24, 2012 - Just came here to say thankyou I just cured the jumping screen problem on the laptop I was given to repiar which is the exact same model

TinyTracey Says:

Mar 20, 2012 - ok thanks,I've never used a glue gun before I plan to buy one as want to practice fixing circuit boards etc along with learning how to solder,I'm used to fixing computers which I'm good at,gonna learn myself to fix laptops now.

69bunnygirl Says:

Mar 20, 2012 - Rather than risk melting the laptop casing if you were to use a glue gun, I would recommend the use of the adhesive putty called Blu-Tack manufactured by Bostik. It is easily installed and available, and can (if needs be) in future be easily removed without any risk of damage. It worked instantly and continues to work for me. The author of these videos has identified a major design fault and has saved all of us a fortune by correctly identifying the real problem in the first place.

TinyTracey Says:

Mar 19, 2012 - I'm going to be swapping a tower for one of these laptops and the screen flickers on it all the time even after I got the owner a new battery yet when it was hooked up to an LCD tv the picture was stable on the tv,if I find it is this cable,do you think I could use a glue gun to stop the cable moving about?

69bunnygirl Says:

Mar 18, 2012 - This is a fantastic video. It took me less than 10 mins to sort out my flickering Acer 5920. I used a combination of a sticky tab+blue tack putty to fix/wedge the cable that was previously mobile and causing the bad connection. It was very useful knowing which screws to undo to release the cover. No problems since. Ken Foot

Mar 7, 2012 - did you get your money back from the shop for their incompetence in checking the WHOLE of the electrical path concerned? Sounds like they didn't, but managed to move the dodgy cable, then got lucky with the fix for two days. The law's on your side. Use it.

torhill57 Says:

Feb 8, 2012 - cheers mate i'am so happy to be flicker free after nearly flinging the laptop..
