Jan 18, 2012 - I know plenty of liberals that are ALL FOR racial profiling, and I'm one of them. It's *conceivable* that an 80 year old white woman might have become a jihadist. It's also *conceivable* that a stranger will give me a winning lottery ticket tomorrow. But the *probability* of either of those is effectively zero, and it makes no sense to spend the time and effort and money that the TSA does on something that has a probability of zero. Racial profiling makes sense.

Oct 25, 2011 - The TSA are 8 dollar and hour mall cops..... who cant wait until the next girl scout troupe goes through the naked scanners......WTF America.....nobody has the right to see children naked.....Nobody.

gulbirk Says:

Sep 18, 2011 - No it doesnt. But hate against the west has NOT decreased at all. So there is NO reason to assume that everyone is just happier now. If you know that bringing a gun or a knife on a plane is useless because you will be scanned, you most likely wont try it in the first place. But I am interested, pleas tell me why hijackings have decreased.

aamidjaythreepointoh Says:

Sep 16, 2011 - 5. I have no doubt that scanning everyone improves security, but as the article you linked me to points out, that does not address the underlying problem of "human suffering" that motivates hijackers and terrorists.

aamidjaythreepointoh Says:

Sep 16, 2011 - 1. The article you linked me to on JSTOR showed a decline in hijacking pre-9/11 and no attribution was made to TSA. 2.The encyclopedia article also failed to show how or even if TSA led to decline in hijackings post-9/11. 3. Privately owned airports are subject to federal regulation through the FAA (crippled though it is), that's one reason that "nothing" is being done. 4. The U..S. is just recently matching airport security levels in other countries, like Israel.

gulbirk Says:

Sep 16, 2011 - One more thing. Mosts Airports ARE privatly owned btw. So why isnt anything being done? Again, I sent you the statistics which clearly shows that it works. Yes, SOME people are picked randomly, but EVERYONE is scanned. Thats the difference between now and back then.

gulbirk Says:

Sep 16, 2011 - No, I hardly doubt that. They wouldnt risk having planes taken down all the time. Btw, most airports ARE private. So why arent they doing anything?

friday0408 Says:

Sep 15, 2011 - Not all of them, because they understand that some people like their freedom and are willing to provide their own security. I never call the cops because as a person I believe I am responsible for my own safety and security, which I provide.

gulbirk Says:

Sep 15, 2011 - Yeah, few hijacking are being attempted because its almost impossible to get anything harmfull on the plane. You want to bend the rules, so that I can take practicly whatever I want with me on the plane. And my point is, if you have this security fewer people CAN hijacke planes. And privatising it doesnt change anything. I wouldnt go on a plance if I knew that anyone could bring anything on it, thats insane. I will send you statistics.

aamidjaythreepointoh Says:

Sep 14, 2011 - Oh, and if you can demonstrate how well the TSA has been working since 9/11, then that would be awesome. Otherwise, what are you even talking about?

aamidjaythreepointoh Says:

Sep 14, 2011 - Can you back that up by citing a reliable source of information showing during what time period hi-jacking went down several hundred percent? Even if you can, can you cite anything that concretely demonstrates that the TSA caused such decline. Furthermore, saying hijackings went down in percentage points is going to make progress look dramatic considering how few hijackings are even attempted in the first place.

gulbirk Says:

Sep 13, 2011 - It doesnt work? Is that why hijacking has gone down several hundred %?

aamidjaythreepointoh Says:

Sep 12, 2011 - The rules of airport security are arbitrary at this point. You seem to assume that the security in airports actually works. It doesn't and wouldn't in the event of a well coordinated attack, as this video sort of points out.

aamidjaythreepointoh Says:

Sep 12, 2011 - Well, like I said: The TSA is not effective (at least per this video) in actually keeping passengers safe from terrorists. I don't know if keeping passengers safe from terrorists would significantly increase profit for airports and airlines. Though, if it would, we can assume that privatizing airport security would improve that security system. I personally don't think that keeping passengers safe is as important for profit as keeping passengers thinking that they're safe.

gulbirk Says:

Sep 12, 2011 - Yeah, and all rich owners that own an airport would NEVER risk loosing income, so they would set the exact same security laws.

gulbirk Says:

Sep 12, 2011 - Ok, lets privatize it. Do you think that rich airport owners would RISK letting airplanes be hijacked all the time, FUCK NO. They would set the exact same securit laws as we have today.
