May 26, 2012 - Also, they are embryos when placed back into the uterus at 2-3 days after being fertilized, and a blastocyst if they are transfered at 5 days past fertilization. This blastocyst is what in regular pregnancy is what is expelled from the fallopian tube for implantation in the uterus. Once the blastocyst further develops it becomes a zygot. A zygot has a heart beat and is considered a living being. Then it will develop into a fetus and then a baby.
May 26, 2012 - It's not disgusting, but beautiful that God has intrusted helping these ultra special souls like my daughter to the wonderful Dr's and very deserving parents!
As for the tossing of embryos that just simply doesn't happen. Non viable fertilized eggs are discarded or, what we did, donated back to the clinic to learn more. They would never have developed into embryos let alone babies. Healthy bodies do this as well. They absorb the non viable fertilized eggs and are expelled during menses.

I have been in the IVF world for almost 5 years now. I am healthy but my husband was diognosed with male factor infertility while we were trying to obtain our family. And after 3 years had our beautiful daughter. I truely believe that it's a medical condition that should be treated like any other.
May 16, 2012 - I am an ivf baby and i'm proud :) Im so happy that my parents loved and wanted me that much they went through all that stress and aggravation to get me! I treasure every moment, and thank each one of my siblings (although they where only cells at the time) for the life they gave to let mine exist<3 And for all those people who think its wrong; well its not, okay? How selfish can you get, saying 'oh, your infertile, you cant have your own baby!' Adoption might not be right for them specifically.
May 8, 2012 - Anytime you get your period you have embryos being "tossed" away. So what's the difference in trying to fertilize one so it can go on and become a baby then do nothing and it just be tossed away by your body. I don't think people like you understand how basic human functions work and lets see how you would respond if you had no children, wanted one and had people tell you that you are wrong for wanting something they already have and have no way of understanding.
May 6, 2012 - There are some very ignorant people in this world that really need to be educated,IVF is a way for people like me who can't have children the natural way.To the person who spoke against this procedure saying that adoption is a better way to go I agree there are children who need to be adopted, unless you have an extra15to30 grand laying around its really not that easy.To the person who was against masturbation doc's will not pull sperm from the epididimis or testes for no reason.
May 5, 2012 - That is very ignorant. I had the misfortune of having an ectopic pregnancy, which means that it is safer to bypass the tubes and put the sperm directly into the womb. I do not want to have to mourn the death of another baby which is why I'm going to try i.v.f. I have never, or would never consider having an abortion. Yes, there are lots of babies wanting adoption, which I am also considering, providing I can get through all the ridiculous red tape criteria to do it.
May 2, 2012 - you dont kill other embyos, the thing is not all embryos will survive any way, even if you have 10 eggs, it doesnt mean you will have 10 babies, if you lucky 1 will survive and become an embyo. IVF is wonderful thing that help many people have children.
