May 9, 2012 - Well ofcourse there needs to be research, but one person publishing results can easily manipulate research to his/her advantage too (we've had multiple scientific scandals last year where research forms were entirely made up or could not be reproduced). This can happen, that's why, when it matters, other researchers will conduct similar experiments/tests to verify claims. Either that or run over the numbers again. Wikipedia requires sources cited, which can be those research papers.
