May 25, 2012 - I just don't think that we can judge people based on today's standards. Back in the day, before the war, there wasn't a damn thing wrong with visiting Hitler, diplomatically or socially. Given their status, their visit would have been as much diplomatic as it would have been social. Also, the Allies knew the Jews were being persecuted in Nazi Germany, they didn't know that they were being exterminated, tortured and experimented on.

May 25, 2012 - I know, I studied Nazi Germany at A-level and I've read an essay by George Orwell on anti-semitism in Britain during WW2. I also know that we didn't go to war in 1939 to save the Jewish people. As a nation we new what was going on in Germany and yet didn't do anything. But I don't think that because a lot of people were anti-semitic, that somehow excuses the fact that Edward and Wallace were. There's also a big difference between vaguely agreeing with Hitler, and then visiting him socially.

May 24, 2012 - what's the name of the song at almost the end??
NewEmancipato Says:
May 23, 2012 - God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him (Jesus) won't perish but will have eternal life. - Jesus

May 22, 2012 - In history, they were hated before they sympathized the Nazi.
TheHalifaxGirl Says:
May 22, 2012 - A lot of people were Nazi sympathizers back then before the full extent of their war crimes came to light. Hitler certainly wasn't the first anti-Semite. The West thought Hitler a great tool against communism in the East, until he put Germany on the war path again...

May 22, 2012 - shitonna you r great! you have one flopped film this year, one flopped album and singles after making publicity stunt at superbowl. you r flopped like shit. you should get a retirement and continue you business of prostitution.
clynchable Says:
May 22, 2012 - Has everyone forgotten that these two were Nazi sympathisers?! I can't get emotional about this story for that reason.
MisterMcGillicutty Says:
May 22, 2012 - "Thrown" is the past participle of the verb "to throw", "throne" is the chair, and symbol of sovereign power. Looks like Madonna isn't the only one who can't get things right (BTW, if you actually watched the film you would see she did do her homework)
cat6313 Says:
May 21, 2012 - Great movie. Speaking of great love stories with sweeping inaccuracies when will the one about Adolph and Eva come about? You know where he is just a simple misunderstood artist.
HeiligerBimBam74 Says:
May 19, 2012 - I'm really surprise! Good job Madonna!
MrBstranger Says:
May 18, 2012 - I expected the worst because of the bad reviews, but this film was a pleasant surprise after all. A really decent directorial effort by an artist not famous for her movie skills! I guess my opinion doesn't really count, since i'm a huge Madonna fan, but noone can deny that at least the performances, the music and the art direction were great. Just watch it!

May 16, 2012 - This is the best movie I've seen in a very, very long time. It really touched my heart.
CRTtoVIP Says:
May 14, 2012 - Well I haven't seen it so I cannot personally give you my impression. However, I do know the historical background of these two, and it is nothing like what is protrayed in this trailer. I'm sure there are hundreds of other forbidden love stories with Historical background that do not have to obfuscate Nazi affiliations and/or loose women. This movie tries to make you sympathetic towards two people who did not deserve any sympathy at all.
dirtydenim71 Says:
May 14, 2012 - Though agreed in some aspects, the movie is not supposed to be a historical depiction of the film (knowing it's idealized) watching it, it's clear that it's Wally's (the paralleling female character) image of Wallis which she's pieced together. The spirit of the film centers around an impossible love and it's obvious Nazi sympathizing would have ruined the spirit of the film. The film is beautifully shot, amazing colour and costume but lacking in story with unnecessary elements, but not idiotic
